Troy’s landscape supply and landscaping supplier, siteone, has announced a $100,000 grant for the city of Troy, as the city seeks to bring back a local landscaping supply company that was shut down in 2015.
In 2016, the company was sold to a company in Georgia, and the city was unable to find a new owner.
The city said that its decision to shut down the company led to a “tremendous” drop in revenue.
“The community has shown tremendous support in this matter and we are very appreciative of the support,” Troy Mayor Mike Brown said in a statement released Wednesday.
“I know the community is frustrated and disappointed that we will not be able to return to a vibrant, local landscapers supply business that has helped so many Troy residents over the years.
We have done everything in our power to get this company back to business.
We will not let this happen again and we will do everything in my power to help the city get the resources it needs to bring the business back.”
Siteone is based in Atlanta and has been providing landscaping services in Troy since 2014.
The company’s website describes itself as “the world’s leading, independent, leading landscaping company,” which is a reference to the company’s logo.
Troy, a city of about 18,000 people about 30 miles northwest of Atlanta, is seeking an additional $50,000 in the grant for an additional three years.
The grant is for a period of three years, but the city said it will continue to work to bring more businesses back to the city.
“Troy is seeking to bring a thriving landscaping business back to Troy, and this grant will allow us to help ensure that Troy’s community can once again be proud of its landscapers,” Brown said.
“We look forward to working with Siteone in bringing this business back into the city and the community.”
